Premiere: Boska – Cascades Ep

Music

Jon-Eirik Boska hails from North of the Arctic Circle, growing up in the chilly surroundings of Norway’s techno capital, Tromsø. Still, a listen to the bass heavy production ranging through his Cascades EP would have you assuming he'd grown up amongst the pirate radios and raves of East London. The 5 tracks travel from the Orbital-esque techno stomp of Anima, to Saviour's Night Slugs ready slugs of UK bass, to the glacial sprawl of EP closer Righteous, and, if our ears don't decieve us, sound very much like a producer who's going to be around for a while yet.

Boska has previously collaborated with the likes of Nguzunguzu's MA, and with five EPs already to his name, has received rotation from the likes of Julio Bashmore, Axel Boman and John Talabot. Currently based in Berlin, Boska has signed an EP deal with the newly formed independent label, Balsa Wood. The label was co-founded by the owner of Brilliance Records in Bergen with a focus on the growing Norwegian club scene. Boska’s ‘Cascades’ EP is the label’s first release and it will be released on 22 May. But you, lucky Ransom Note reader, can hear the lot hear and now…
