Premiere: Bab – EQ
Sand dunes stretched as far as the eye could see, each golden grain made all the bolder beneath the bright blue sky. They journeyed for hours and hours, mesmerised by their beautiful surroundings. On one side mountain ranges stretched high above the skyline, while on the other forgotten palaces and ruins stood in all their glory. There was something magical about this place…
For his first solo effort, producer and musician Bab, who is a member of Paris-based electronica band 404, explores the sounds of Northern Africa. Sahar is a journey into the land of Algeria, created using ethnographic records from the beginning of the 20th century and used in his own contemporary context. Set for release on Rotterdam’s Afrobotic Musicology, the four tracks are a homage to the country that Bab loves the most.
