Playlist: Music To Cut Hair To With Isabelle Kosciuko
So here we are… Miss Isabelle Kosciuko and her rather fab ‘Music to cut hair to' playlist. Friend, client and can smash out a rather good playlist to wet your appetite. I always bump into this girl on the best dance floors.
If you fancy getting out and about this weekend than start it off right…with this!
When were you at your happiest?
Anywhere in the desert or by the sea, good soundtrack, friends, sun.
What’s your greatest fear?
I’m not great with heights, tried to cure it by going skydiving but that was a disaster, I had to watch a 15 minute disclaimer with a guy who looked like a Satan worshipper saying it was my fault if I died, sign my life away and jump out of a plane with a Velcro door tied to a guy who called himself Batman… so yeah still not great with heights.
Who do you admire?
I get excited about new people every day, recently I discovered Victor Frankl, a psychiatrist who survived the Holocaust and wrote a book called Man’s Search for Meaning, Gloria Steinem, Maya Angelou, hair-wise Vidal Sassoon is interesting, there’s a good documentary about him online.
What trait do you deplore in yourself / other people?
Try not to focus on it but I’m not a fan of entitlement, arrogance, negativity.
What’s your worst habit?
Probably overthinking.
Favourite word?
I love the word Kai, it means ocean in Hawaiian, or Kaya, I love words from Native American languages, they always sounded a bit mystic and I love the symbolism, and I love a French poet called Paul Eluard.
Who would you like to say sorry to?
I apologise all the time including when I shouldn’t be so I’ve stopped, sorry… see what I mean.
Who do you despise?
People who like power, politicians.
Who or what is the love of your life?
A few close people, dessert, red wine, good music, changes every day I get pretty enthusiastic about stuff, always more room for love.
What would improve your life?
World peace, living in the sun and a bottomless supply of Reese’s peanut butter cups and almond granitas.
What’s your greatest achievement?
Ha hopefully it’s still coming. The most exciting thing for me right now is playing at XOYO for Artwork’s 13 week residency in March, with Artwork and Derrick May doing Room 1 on the 9th and Artwork and Omar S on the 23rd, I’m doing room 2 with PBR on the 9th and all night long on the 23rd, really excited about that! Come and say hi!
What keeps you awake at night?
Overthinking.
How would you like to be remembered?
I’m thinking a disco ball shaped memorial building in the Sonoran desert with light reflecting everywhere, inside I’d have a big pool where people can chill and drink amaretto sours floating on lilos and look at the stars, something subtle like that.
What lessons has life taught you?
Even mullets grow out… this too shall pass.
What would your super power be?
Cosmic travelling.
Favourite smell?
The sea.
Who would play you in a film?
Someone talented, interesting, hot, funny, and of course with immaculate hair, I’m still auditioning for the part.
Tell us a secret?
I got offered 3 grand to smuggle diamonds when I was travelling in India fresh out of school and nearly went through with it, could’ve made a good episode of Banged Up Abroad.
