Kasra V – 8 Original Movie Soundtracks

Music

Kasra V is the perfect guide for any ventures into the world of mysterious boogie – in fact, there probably isn't anyone else out their able to tread the border between boogie music and a feeling of mystique. The Tehran-born music-maker now resides in London and has his own NTS Radio show – not bad for someone who is still in their early twenties. We found out that he was a big fan of films so we asked him to talk us through some of his very favourite film soundtracks.

Atlantis is out on 28th September via LIPS. Find out more about Kasra V here.

Howard Shore - 9pm

Soundtrack to Martin Scorsese’s black comedy film from 1985 – Afterhours. It really captures the strange, eerie mood of the movie, definitely check the film out too if you haven’t, a must watch!

  • Howard Shore - 9pm

  • Vangelis- Blade Runner Blues

If you have ever listened to any of my shows on NTS, you can very easily realise that I’m obsessed with Blade Runner OST, I mean it’s just the most perfect soundtrack made!

  • Ennio Morricone - Frantic

This song comes in at the end of Frantic where the character Michelle gets shot and dies in the arms of Harrison Ford, it’s a proper emotional scene captured by the maestro Morricone, like no one else could.

  • Tangerine Dream- Near Dark Theme

Incredible soundtrack by Tangerine Dream to the classic 1987 vampire movie. This film is often called one of the most underrated films of all time and we agree.

  • Latour- Blue

This one is from that famous club scene in Basic Instinct, the one where Sharon Stone is teasing Michael Douglas and, in my eyes, it’s probably the best club scene ever made in a movie? Captures the atmosphere perfectly.

  • Paul Hertzog - Kumite

OST from a movie called Bloodsport with Jean Claude Van Damme starring in it. In this particular scene, JCVD is preparing for a big tournament where this song rolls in, tension builds perfectly.

  • Angelo Badalementi- Silencio

This track is from the film Mulholland Drive, out in 2001. In this particular scene Diane and Rita are entering the creepy Club Silencio. It’s quite a strange and thrilling soundtrack throughout the film from Angelo Badalementi (the man who also wrote the famed Twin Peaks soundtrack) and perfectly fits the scene.

  • Marty Irwin- Animal Instinct 2

Rounding this session off with one my favourite OSTs, Animal Instinct is a soft porn thriller from early ’90s which the movie doesn’t have much to say apart from nudity but the soundtrack is pretty sick.
