Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains The Same Live

I first saw The Song Remains The Same when I was about 17 years old. It’s a concert film they made at the end of a tour in 76 when Led Zeppelin were arguably at their peak. It’s filled with strange dream sequences and I think the band hate it but it’s an amazing document from an era when anything seemed possible in rock and roll.

  • The Stone Roses - I Wanna Be Adored (Live In Blackpool)

I used to play drums in a band and would watch this before every gig I played. Such an amazing, inspiring group. This show was so important back in ‘89 – it showed a whole generation coming out of the 80’s what you could do with live music.

  • Glastonbury (2006) Trailer

There probably wouldn’t be a Field Day if not for Glastonbury. I’d been going on and off most years since my parents took me when I was 5 years old and you can see the influence in how varied our line up is and parts like the Village Mentality area.

  • Tarkovsky - Scene From Mirror

An incredible film that really captivated me. Tarkovsky’s attention to design and detail is mesmerising – the scene with the burning house is really incredible. I’m a bit of a perfectionist but Tarkovsky’s work is the next level.

  • The Beatles - I Am The Walrus

If only they could play Field Day! The Beatles have soundtracked most of my life and are also my sons favourite band. They constantly reinvented themselves and pushed boundaries which is something we try to do with Field Day every year.

  • The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band Live At Wassermusik Festival

I used to go to Sidmouth Folk Week every year as a child and it quite probably inspired my love for world music which you see coming across on the bill at Field Day each year.

  • Kandinsky Drawing 1926

Seeing a Kandinsky exhibition at the Pompidou Centre in Paris when I was about 14 totally blew my mind and I guess that was when I became aware of contemporary art.

  • Beastie Boys - Lighten Up

This is one of my favourite tracks. Love the acoustic sound and the drumming. Always great and inspiring to see a band changing sounds and introducing new things to their audience.
