Kiss - Deuce - The Midnight Special - 1975

My musical birth started here. The image was obviously a lot more important at the time but I actually rather enjoy the music as well. Surely the heaviest track about blowjobs ever made.

  • Subway Art: 25th Anniversary Edition

Around 1984 Norwegian television showed a documentary about rap and grafitti culture in NY. I was obsessed by breakdancing, writing and dj’ing from that day though punk did come and bite me in the ass at a point. I still have this book and leaf through it’s loose pages once in a while.

  • Mantronix - Bassline

Mantronix, BDP, JVC Force, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Schooly D, Biz Markie, Slick Rick, Ultramagnetic MC’s, De La Soul, NWA, Wu Tang…hip hop aint what it used to be…

  • Peter Slaghuis Tribute Part 1

This track was huge at the local disco and as far as I remember on the radio to. This kind of bridged the gap between the rap music I was listening to and disco/house sound that I was being drawn towards. The remix was done by Peter Slaghuis, one of the biggest Dutch dj’s and producers at the time. I actually met him once in the summer of either 1984 or 1985 as he was doing a livePA with the rather horrible Video Kids. Woodpeckers from space anyone? There where 3 other kids there, they mimed to the song twice, signed a 12″ for us each but I was rather impressed still.

  • Silver Pozzoli - Around My Dream Hq Hd

Not the slightest bit of guilt, just pleasure… One I have great childhood memories of and also quite recent memories from playing. At the time most of the 12″s had slightly cooler “dub” mix on the b-side but as there weren’t 1000’s of subgenres to get caught up in AND the fact that not that many records where made (or at least made it to my local import store)selecting was slightly more random and of course a lot more fun.

  • Daft Punk - Alive (Dir. Emile Hirsch)

I’m skipping a lot of late 80’s house here as there seems to be few videos. Jumping straight to the golden age of “france dance”, a track I still play and a video that’s actually very funny.

  • Panopticon360: Endless Boogie

The best sounding clip I could find of one of my current favourite bands. Check them out, on record or live (but beware, they’re loud).

  • Hermeto - Music From The Beard - Som Da Barba

No explanation needed. Amazing and hilarious. For slightly less comic but more rewarding musical bits from this guy do yourself a favor and pick up one of the surprisingly cheap copies of his “Slaves Mass”album in your local record store.
