Influences: Kasra V

Music

Born in Iran, based in London, Kasra V has found himself at home amidst a city far away. In the coming months he will release his third EP for the newly founded label, Feelings Worldwide. Floaty synths, padded drums and influences from rave culture and early trance sit prominently throughout the release alongside a rather exciting remix from Dream 2 Science. As a tastemaker who also operates the wheels at the NTS 'Paradise Show', Kasra is a man of influence and roots. This summer he will feature at Farr festival amongst many other outings. Here are his influences…

The Window EP is forthcoming HERE. Catch him at Farr festival HERE

Propaganda - Dream Within A Dream

Anyone that has been following my shows on NTS can easily recognise my obsession with ZTT records and this song by Propoganda is one of my favourite releases which is based around a poem by Edgar Allen Poe.

  • Swing Out Sister - Communion

I’ve always had a soft spot for English pop bands from 80s from as early as I can remember, this song is from Swing Out Sister’s first album on Mercury from 1985. Highly recommended.

  • George Michael - Cowboys And Angels

Back when I was growing up in Tehran, it was pretty difficult to get hold of certain songs, you either had to wait in front of satellite TV and watch channels like MTV or VH1 until your favourite song would come up or try and find it on bootleg tapes. I had a bootleg George Michael tape and this was on it.

  • It's Immaterial - Space, He Called From The Kitchen.. (Disco Mix)

Once again going back to my tendency toward 80s English pop, this song is breathtaking!

  • Rockers Hi-Fi - Push Push (Original Version)

My brother introduced me to this song a long time ago and to this date I play it as much as I can, really interesting blend of dub and house which results in quite a euphoric song.

  • Francois Kevorkian - Mindspeak

Taken from Francois Kevorkian’s debut EP on wave music which in my opinion is one of the best produced house EPs to date.

  • The Shamen - Omega Amigo

Made in 1989 and released by the brilliant One Little Indian label, I really like the feel and melodies of this song and the video is great too. Omega is the end of time. Amigo is a friend. the end of time my friend! “Omega Amigo for you, I’ll always have time”

  • Ability Ii - Pressure Dub

I remember the first time I heard this song in a club, the sub bass on it blew my brains out, such an incredible and unique record.

  • Lfo - Nurture

It’s amazing to think LFO released their debut album on Warp over 20 years ago and still sounds so fresh. This track is one of my favourite from the album.

  • Richard Wahnfried - Time Actor

I still can’t believe that this song was released on 1979. Wahnfried is an alter ego of Klaus Schulze , make sure you check that EP it’s SO ahead of its time!

  • Alice Coltrane & Carlos Santana - Guru Sri Chinmoy Aphorism / Angel Of Air / Angel Of Water

Rounding this session up with a song from one of the most influential albums i’ve ever listened to called “Illuminations” which is a collaboration between Santana & Coltrane with each song dedicated to a different god!
