Influences – Jimmy Edgar
Jimmy Edgar is a sneaky beast. One minute he's yowling over sleazy 909s like Prince on holiday in Drexciya, the next he's signing to Hotflush, snapping high art fashion photography, and swanning like Berlin like a modern day Bowie. As a man of clearly refined taste, we couldn't wait to see what Jimmy offered as his influences, and we're happy to say he didn't disappoint (on a side note, it now looks like Dopplereffekt have been featured in more Influences pieces than any other artist. We need to make them some sort of crown…).
Jimmy is over in the UK on Friday 22nd August to headline at Kings Cross's Egg, topping an excellent looking bill that includes Mosca, Kassem Mosse (live) and Lowtec, more info and tickets are availble right here
This is one of my favourite songs of all time. It directly inspired my track ‘In Deep’. There are so many versions of this song, but this is my ultimate choice. I think the melody is so simple. It has a vibe all of its own. The visuals that come to mind are late night blue tones; venetian blinds, sparkling martini glasses, neon clocks, random stocking legs that are attached to bodies – or not.
