Discodeine Influences

Music

After the release of their genre blurring album 'Swimmer' on Dirty/Pschent at the end of last month, Pilooski and Pentile (the duo behind Discodeine) have embellished us with a whole heap of influences; ranging from American director Joseph Losey through to Peter Gordon of the Love of Life Orchestra.

Oscar Niemeyer - 101

Oscar Niemeyer was one of the greatest and most adventurous architect of our times, a great visionary.

  • Oscar Niemeyer - 101

Oscar Niemeyer was one of the greatest and most adventurous architect of our times, a great visionary.

  • Joseph Losey - The Servent

The servant is one of Joseph Losey’s great movies, a very tensed & bizarre approach to mankind. Dirk Bogarde is amazing.

  • Stevie Janowski - Eastbound And Down

Stevie Janowski from the Eastbound & Down series, is probably one of the funniest characters we’ve seen in ages, completely unpredictable as an ex-Flute teacher trying to be a ghetto millionaire.

  • Phase Iv (1974)

Phase 4 was one of the few movies, directed by the creator of modern design, Saul Bass. Not for the movie itself really but more because of the experimental approach to it.

  • Hosono Haruomi - Picnic

Hosono Haruomi, the other half of legendary Japanese band, Yellow Magic Orchestra, on the use of early sampling notice & fake flute.

  • Anthony Shakir - Soundblaster

Antony Shakir, early originator of techno music, this unknown hero is electronic music’s best kept secret, so modern.

  • Love Of Life Orchestra - Condo

Peter Gordon is mixing genres alongside Arthur Russell, from Big bands to electronics, a very modern approach to music.

  • Bernard Parmegiani - Tude Lastique

This is our tribute to the great Bernard Parmegiani who just passed away. This unsung hero took the concrete music to a whole new level, if noises can be music it’s also bcause of people like him.
