Braintax - Escuchame

Uni, 1999 – 2001 – Flunked cos I was mainly getting hammered listening to hip hop – BRAINTAX ! Lyrical genius with that tinge of humour that you’ll only get if you know.

  • Braintax - Escuchame

Uni, 1999 – 2001 – Flunked cos I was mainly getting hammered listening to hip hop – BRAINTAX ! Lyrical genius with that tinge of humour that you’ll only get if you know.

  • Atmosphere-Gods Bathroom Floor

Still at Uni – This time on a comedown I expect.. You know what I didn’t even know about Hip Hop til I went to uni. My housemate, Martin was a skinny ginger Scottish guy, he knew all there was to know about hip hop.. and I soaked up as much knowledge as I could.

  • Bad Company - The Nine

Also whist at Uni I discovered d&b properly.. This was the first track that I heard that made me go, HOW THE FUCK do they do that?? So well executed.

  • Photek - Ni Ten Ichi Ryu

After I dropped out of Uni, and failed at travelling, I of course worked in a booze shop.. whist at said booze shop we used to work the evenings, play whatever we wanted, ‘enjoy ourselves’,whilst maintaining excellent customer service of course.. Everyone had different tastes in music but we were all really open minded, so we listened to a lot. Did most of Aphex and Autechre there.. loads of bands, electronica, classical, etc etc.. THIS one stands out in my memory.. the whole album in fact but, yeah, this one… Hey, anyone who is having space issues with mixing their tracks…. Listen to this and it’ll make you feel even worse.

  • Autechre - Clipper

Another one whist at the booze shop, I think this is their best album. It’s quite difficult to make an 8 minute track, I’ve never done one, this is an effortless masterpiece. Glides all over everything, in waves.

  • Aphex Twin - Meltphace 6

Predictable to have an Aphex track, right? Well piss off, this one sticks with me.. 4.15 when he drops a fucking huge kick drum after there not really being much bass before that, weird genius int he.

  • Forss - Soulhack

One of my favourite albums is Forss – Soulhack, it never gets boring. Wow samples, so much cutting, many jazz – shit quality youtube – buy it.

  • Dave Clark - Red. 2

Maybe I should put a techno track in? Here yar then. ATOMIC JAM was my techno education.
