8 Tracks To Work That Booty To – Lazare Hoche

Music

Parisian Lazare Hoche (real name Charlie Naffah) has always been one to go out and get things done for himself. Having moved into the centre of him home city to set up his own studio and launch a record label, he managed to hit a sweet spot with his music that has echoed through the ears of house heads far and wide.

His latest EP 'Formes' will be released on 27th October so we decided to get Mr Hoche to provide us with 8 tracks to 'work that booty to'. Have a listen and get that booty shakin'!

'Formes' is out on 27th October.

Teule - Drink On Me (Original Mix)

Classic Kerri Chandler early production, featuring the nicely twisted Sylvester sample of his anthem “Over And Over”. I recently doubled my copy at the brand new record store in Paris called Heartbeat which is so far one of the greatest music shops in my city.

  • Paul Johnson - U Remind Me Of Some Sex

Since you guys asked to present 8 tracks to “work that booty to” it’s gonna be hard to avoid those mad Chicago house tracks… So here we go. When I had the chance to get my hand on this record, I didn’t pay that much attention to the song but somehow it grew on me. This a pure A-class Paul Johnson production, still very usable nowadays, the lyrics are rough, maybe too much actually…

  • Minimal Vision - Magic Staircase (Vibraphone)

“The true underground sound of Roma” as they said on the label. Well as we all know, Italy was not really known for its great electronic music scene or something but this gem is off the chart for me. My friend Samuel André Madsen gave me the tips sometime ago, I felt it was a bit cheesy at the first listen but then it grew on me, once again…

  • Millsart - Gamma Player

This is maybe one of the most inspiring records I’ve heard in a while now. A few years ago I saw him in Paris with the Ile-De-France orchestra, it was a blast. They ended the live set with a reinterpretation of Bourgie Bourgie.

  • Ashford And Simpson - Bourgie Bourgie

As I said previously, this is the track that Jeff Mills and the Ile De France Orchestra finished their live show with. Of course this is a timeless classic but it’s always cool to listen. You guys should check the tribute that S3A did of this track on the label 4lux.

  • Nick Holder - Phreaky Phunky

This a super funky jam by Nick Holder, probably one of the best DNH records so far. It’s simple but the beat is sick tight. This record never leaves my bag. Another goody from Heartbeat Records Paris, by the way.

  • Joe Lewis - Life Immoreal

Awesome deepness by Joe Lewis on Chicago Relief Records, still chasing this one, it has a bit of everything I like in electronic music. It’s getting pretty rare nowadays.

  • Todd Terry, The Unreleased Project - Don't Get Carried Away

From the Unreleased Project era, this a monster Todd Terry production, SP1200 madness. Does it sounds familiar to Robert Owens – I’ll Be Your Friend?

  • Jovonn - Don't Wanna Let U Go - The Goldhouse Ep - Goldtone - 1993

Ok, let’s close this with this Goldtone goody by Jovonn. You have the flute solo, the Yamaha RY30 beat, everything you can expect from Jovonn but it’s still a lot of fun to play it, even at home.
