8 Tracks – Shenoda

Music

Shenoda has been building momentum steadily releasing on labels such as Hypercolour and Man Make Music. His own weighty brand of house and techno has garnered him support from far reaching corners of the spectrum. Shenoda's latest EP on George Fitzgerald's Man Make Music imprint is a typically varied release including elements of blissful melodies to garage-influenced drum patterns, funky '90s basslines, and skewed vocal snippets.

Here he's put together a selection of 8 Tracks that he describes as "A varied selection of assorted goodness that I wouldn't get to play out."

Shenoda's 'Who Ver?' is out now.

Blade Runner Blues - Vangelis - 1982 - [Hd]

I vividly remember watching this film at a really young age. Vangelis is a master of writing epic synth scores like an orchestra. The whole sound-track is incredible and this my favourite track on it.

  • Myron - We Can Get Down (Groove Chronicles Remix)

Probably there in my all-time fave garage tracks. Soulful and sub heavy, Groove Chronicles was a real pioneer of the scene really. The term 2-step is usually associated with tons of shite records, but this remix is a perfect example of when it can be good.

  • Arthur Russell - See-Through

Bit late to the party with Arthur Russell if I’m honest, but been listening to this album a lot recently. The whole album showcases how incredible guitar and strings can sound when processed to fuck with delays and reverbs.

  • Rene & Angela - I'Ll Be Good

Just because its a ridiculously good record.

  • 01 The Boomin' System Ll Cool J

I remember swapping this album with a mate for sub-standerd punk record when I was at college. Never been a fan of later LL Cool J but I still have a real soft spot for this album.

  • 69 - Desire

Stone cold timeless Carl Craig classic this. Such an amazing record that has so much emotion.

  • Aphex Twin - Alberto Balsalm

Its great when artists can push the boundaries and write seriously out-there music, whilst still being deft at incredible melodies. One of the many amazingly creative tracks from Richard D James.

  • Kerrier District - Let's Dance And Freak

Vibert’ s got some serious funk.
