8 Tracks: Of Morning Music With Kask

Music

It's funny, you might not typically associate the country of Estonia as being a particularly vibrant environment for interesting and relevant Electronic music. However, the capital, Tallinn actually has far more going on beneath its surface than you might believe. Mutant Disco, organised by Raul Saaremets, is a long running Estonian party, it has been twenty years in action. Raul appears on the latest release of fellow city dweller Kask under his Ajukaka alias. This is certainly noteworthy, it's not often that a relative newcomer is able to woo an established veteran of a local scene in to manage remix duties. Kask's latest EP, Periferia, is however, no ordinary record. It is spellbindingly beautiful, an accomplished house release with a sense of depth and personality. We caught up with him for his 8 tracks…

Kamasi Washington - 'Re Run'

The whole album of this song is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend you to listen all of it and get more into Kamasi Washington, pretty recent find for myself to be honest. Highly addictive stuff.

  • Jerry Glenn Ward - Movin' In

Found this little gem on youtube, has been making rounds on my player for a few weeks now. Vibes.

  • The Supreme Jubilees - It'll All Be Over

Although the picture on this album is a setting sun I think this track is perfect for easing in for the new week. And although I think the song’s lyrics originally carry a Christian message then I think the lines “It’ll all be over and we don’t have to cry no more” really fit the mood on Monday mornings.

  • Software - Island Sunrise

Never enough of some 80’s west german synth music.

  • Nancy Holloway - Hurt So Bad

This song is how I prefer my coffee – smooth, but powerful.

  • Pink Rhythm - Melodies Of Love

    No comment needed.

  • Pieces Of A Dream - Warm Weather

Warm weather is something that is pretty rare right now here in Estonia so this track is a perfect getaway track from the freezing wind drying to destroy the last of your motivation to do anything ever again.

  • Mike Francis - Survivor

I think the title speaks for itself. Classic track this one, that bass line.
