Music

Antepop is the head honcho behind Inverted Audio Magazine. As good friends of the Ransom Note site and in a spirit of unity we asked him to curate an eight track playlist ahead of the Inverted Audio party at Bussey Building on the 5th of February. They have invited 45 ACP of LIES Records and Russian Torrent Versions who has crafted a reputation for dusty House and Techno sets. Antepop will be on warm up duties. Here are his 8:

45 Acp - Turn On The Night

Lo-fi mastermind 45 ACP’s ‘Turning On The Night’ is an appropriately named track that does exactly what it says on the label, smooth, deep and loads of bass. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for Inverted Audio’s next rave at Bussey Building on 5th February!

  • Jan Jelinek - Tendency

Jan Jelinek winds up an unearthly atmosphere with exquisite glitch work in ‘Tendency’. An all time favourite of mine, which I’m still trying to find on vinyl, such a shame that Pole’s record label ~scape is no longer operating!

  • Carsten Jost - Love

This has to be one of my most sought after records, Carsten Jost’s ‘Love’ on Dial presents rhythmic drums that just pine for you to get up and dance. Deep house at it’s finest!

  • Huerco S. - Battery Tunnel

Every time I listen to Huerco S. ‘Battery Tunnel’ it transports me into a subaquatic world. This track ranks top of my dream states list.

  • Aphex Twin - Fingerbib

How could I not include Aphex Twin’s ‘Fingerbib’ taken from the Richard D. James album, it’s an all time classic! It is also set to crazy footage from the film “Merde”, which is well worth a watch if you’re into weird cinema.

  • Thomas Brinkmann - Isch

Thomas Brinkmann’s ‘Icsh’ is a record that I bought when I first moved to London, it’s a bit like marmite, some will love it, some will hate it. For me it’s all about winding up the floor and seeing how people react to it.

  • Dressed In Dresden - The Hundred In The Hands (Kyle Mf Hall Remix)

Kyle Hall’s remix of Dressed In Dresden features great drum work, the kind of drums that are sure to get your feet shuffling.

  • Mount Kimbie - William

Mount Kimbie’s ‘William’ is a track that I think i’ll always come back to. I saw Mount Kimbie play years ago at an intimate show at The Macbeth Pub in Hoxton around the time this record was released. It has always stood out to me and I’ll be playing this till I’m old and grey.
