8 Tracks – Harry Axt

Music

A Berlin-based producer never quite comfortable adhering to German stereotypes, Harry Axt has made his name dealing in the art of dark techno soundscapes. His latest EP 'Two And A Half Gram', released last week, is bursting with charisma and originality. Rather than playing it safe and dealing with previously trodden ground, Harry relies on shifting, off-kilter melodies and buried samples to provide what is ultimately a cracking EP. We asked Harry to come up with a list of 8 of his favourite techno cuts to help give an insight into his musical heritage.

'Two And A Half Gram' is out now.

Maurizio - Domina (Maurizio Mix)

As a young raver I remember hearing this almost every time I went out, a great opener. In 13 minutes nothing really happens but the groove is hypnotic and infectious like hell.

  • Wishmountain - Radio

Matthew Herbert – genius. Love the kitchen experimental sounds, totally original and unpredictable.

  • Emmanuel Top "Stress"

He has so many great tracks it was very difficult to choose just one. Stress has a lovely progression, his sound is superb. Respect.

  • Dave Angel - Timeless

    As the title suggests.

  • Jan Driver - All You Can Beat

Driver was a big inspiration to me as a young producer, huge fan of his sound – so fat and clear, love it.

  • Marmion - Schöneberg (Original Mix)

A classic from the Berlin Ewerk, Walfish days, this track always makes me feel quite nostalgic.

  • Speedy J - Pannik - Original Mix

    Industrial club beauty!

  • E-Dancer - The Human Bond

Love the deep bass line here, from ’97 but still sounds fresh.
