8 Tracks: Dimensions Pays Homage To Larry Heard

Music

From Moodymann and Massive Attack to Ron Trent and Mike Huckaby, the lineup for Dimensions 2016 is looking pretty tasty. But even amongst this stellar list, there's still one name that stands out – house legend Larry Heard aka Mr. Fingers, whose appearance is the result of several years of planning on the part of the festival. To mark the occasion, here's 8 other artists playing this year's Dimensions (well, 9 actually) pitching in with their favourite Larry Heard tracks.

Dimensions Festival 2016 takes place 25-29 August at Fort Punta Christo, Croatia. Tickets are available here.

Mr. Fingers - Washing Machine

K’ALEXI SHELBY:

OMG My friend my teacher then & now mostly known for his smooth side BUT this is just one from his wild side that made us go just as wild it’s pure “Abstract Beauty” Love it & LOVE my Big Bro Mr. Larry Heard aKa Mr. Fingers.

  • Mr. Fingers - What About This Love

    JOSEY REBELLE:

This is literally the hardest question in the universe for me because I would die for Larry Heard and will probably collapse from hysteria if I bump into him at Dimensions this year, but ‘What About This Love’ has to be up there as one of the greatest love and heartbreak songs ever. The emotion in that track is just too, too much. I can’t wait to see what he’ll perform live at Dimensions.

  • Larry Heard - Another Night (Re-Edit)

    SASSY J:

Too many great tracks to choose from. Simply a Legend. Thank you Larry Heard!

  • Larry Heard - Missing You (Original Version)

    BYRON THE AQUARIUS:

Word that’s dope it’s a chill nighttime rider for me and for me being a musician great melodic progression of the chords and lead synth touches my inner soul, make me think of a past relationship of deep feelings whenever listening to it a number one favorite in my iPod.

    ANDY LEMAY:

One of a big list of favourite Larry Heard tracks but I have selected this one because it reminds me of my most memorable musical memories. It was Theo Parrish set at the first ever dimensions. one of, if not my favourite, dimensions sets ever. I remember all my best mates being there Theo was on top form playing an amazing set and then dropped Missing You, the distinctive intro had people going mad and then it dropped and it went ballistic people in tears, cheering etc and was the culmination of one of the best nights I have ever had.

  • Robert Owens - Bring Down The Walls

    NAMEBRANDSOUND:

Bring Down The Walls was a collaboration with Robert Owens. IG says he literally wore out the vinyl this tune kills it every time. legendary music.

  • Mr. Fingers - Can You Feel It

    OCTAVE ONE:

This is just one of those tracks that you could jack in the club to, hang out the park and listen to, or zone out getting close to that special friend too 😉 It worked to with any mood you were in…classic from the date of release!

  • Larry Heard - Direct Drive

    LEXIS (Music is My Sanctuary):

One of the many tracks from the amazing “Love’s Arrival” album from 2001, which I can’t recommend enough. It’s filled with deep emotional atmospheric tracks like “Direct Drive” which also has a minimal tech feel to it (think Larry Heard meets Maurizio). The album is actually quite relevant today with all of the house records incorporating elements of new age music. Of course there are tons of bigger Mr. Fingers classics but this album is a slept-on gem you can find pretty cheap, probably because most early 2000’s house releases tends to be overlooked. Even without peak-time bangers, it’s one of the best full-length albums in the history of house.

  • Larry Heard - Black Oceans

    JON K:

Ok, not going to overthink this and gonna bend the rules a bit and go for 1 record rather than a track.

Black Oceans is an Absolute winner and I play the title track & ‘Burning For Love’ a LOT…..got many special memories involving this record but one that sticks out is from the first NTS party in Manchester when the last half hour went turned into a very fun free for all behind the decks and this rightly got a spin.
