8 Tracks: Bonar Bradberry’s Musical Memories Of Gottwood

Music

The third offering on the Gottwax label features four long term friends of the festival – Bonar Bradberry, Appleblim, Ponty Mython and Krywald & Farrer.

Bonar Bradberry operates as one half of PBR Streetgang, and has also released solo on labels including Red Music, Future Classic, Needwant and Under The Shade. For his 8 Tracks selection, he's chosen to share some of his musical memories of Gottwood Festival, both as a DJ and as a punter.

Pbr Streetgang - J2thab

A bit self indulgent, but sticks in my mind from last year… we turned up at the festival and Move D was playing, and within about 10 mins this came on… always a great buzz when someone you admire plays one of your tracks!

  • Midland - Before We Leave (Gerd Janson Remix)

I was in the walled garden and Dave Harvey was playing… when he put this on I had to do one of those cringe ‘run over and ask what it was’ straight away, and it became one of my tracks of the summer that year.

  • The Youngsters - Third Knife (Matthias Tanzmann Remix)

Another memory from the walled garden, this time playing though! It’s such a special vibe in there when it gets dark, and this was one of the highlights.

  • Seven Davis Jr - One

Listening to him do an intimate set on the lawn by the lake in the afternoon sunshine was a wonderful experience.

  • Maxxi Soundsystem - In The Woods

Sam (Maxxi) played this as part of his brilliant closing set and it sounded amazing. Great DJ, great producer, great lad.

  • Ruf Dug - Chatsubo Special

If you didn’t already know, Gottwood also has an excellent record label that does limited runs of vinyl by some excellent producers… me included for some reason… but this is one of the best.

  • Lauer - Mascat Ring Down

I know this is supposed to be about memories, but I’m such a fan of Lauer, he’s one of my favourite producers and I’m really looking forward to seeing him play this year at Gottwood.

  • Kat Mandu - The Break

Both Tom (the festival’s founder) and I love a good cowbell… so it only seems right… see you all at Gottwood on the 11th of June!
