8 Tracks to riot to: Ben Sims

With May 1st approaching, we thought we'd ask this weeks 8 Tracks guest to reflect on a great British May Day past time: Rioting. From the Poll Tax protestors to the JD Sports looting kids of Hackney, to the bloke out of Pink Floyd's acid addled son, we Brit's love smashing up London at the best of times, but give us a whiff of that fresh Spring air, and anything goes.. Seeing as UK techno champion Ben Sims has spent 20 odd years hurling chrome plated rhythm molotovs at riotous dancefloors, he seemed like the ideal man for the job. Unsurprisingly Mr Sims rose to the task with gusto, picking us 8 Tracks of sturm und drang that would happily soundtrack any and all scenes of complete urban breakdown. Not that we condone that sort of thing.
For a more traditionally techno shaped Sims experience, you can catch him alongside Floorplan, Surgeon and Kirk Degiorgio at his night Machine, blowing the roof off the Corsica Studios on Friday 9th May
kicking off the rebel/anti authority selection a stomping roots classic for the hard steppers.
