Watch Chilly Gonzales & Boys Noize Play In A Cold War Spy Bunker
As venues go, a disused Eastern Bloc spy station is pretty hard to beat. Earlier this month Chilly Gonzales and Boys Noize teamed up with the Kaiser Quartett, a Hamburg based four piece string quartet, for a one off performance of tracks from their collaborative album Octave Minds. East Berlin's aforementioned Teufelsberg listening post was their chosen venue. Performing next to the evocative remnants of tattered geometric domes, and beneath a vast, chunky ariel, the duo set down a 40 minute performance for an invited audience of 200. Now you can watch it all from the comfort of your home… Apparently even putting the show on risked arrest – although as it happens , that was the least of the bands worries – an unexpected downpour did around £30,000 worth of damage to equipment, probably another reason why this won't be happening again…
