The Lisson Gallery have just opened a new show featuring the work of Egyptian multimedia artist Wael Shawky. Entitled Dictums, the exhibition is a collection of documentary shorts and wall drawings and crosses over with Shawky’s other London solo show, currently running at The Serpentine.

Having previously worked with the indigenous cultures and traditions of nomadic Bedouin tribespeople, Shawky similarly charts patterns of physical, economic and intellectual migration in the central video of this exhibition – Dictums: Manqia I – a film that follows a group of rare, prestigious black camels as they are driven across the desert, shot by the artist on location near Abu Dhabi.

The exhibition marks the second in an annual series of political film projects (the series kicked off in 2013 with a film from Mark Boulos entitled No Permanent Address).

Dictums opened on 31st January and will run until 8th March, for further info check the gallery website.
