the films of ute aurand at tate modern
The Tate Modern will screen a trio of films from the cult 1980s Berlin film maker Ute Aurand this weekend.
The mini season starts on Friday night (21st) with the screening of ‘To be Here‘, before two further screenings on the Saturday of ‘Berlin Babylon‘ and ‘Young Pines‘.
Aurand’s was a key figure in Berlin’s 1980s experimental film scene, drawing on traditions of the diary film, feminism and artisanal practices, her handcrafted 16mm films are filled with joy at the small details of life from observations of landscapes to friends filmed over many years.
