Stream Sol Monk’s Beat Heavy Tel Aviv Jazz

Sol Monk is a Tel Aviv based drummer, and a vital part of a jazz/beats scene that is flourishing in the area. His forthcoming album, 'Beats, Not Words' is the result of a collaboration with Israeli production maestro Rejoicer, who, along with a grab bag of local musicians, improvised an album of fascinating, toppling rhythms, throaty vocals, scratchy vinyl samples, and heavy heavy soul. The record draws directly from the DNA of DJ Shadow's 'Endtroducing', and is all the better for it – at around 20 years old, Shadow's classic is long due a revival..
'Beats, Not Words' is released through Rejoicer's Time Grove Selections on June 23rd – view the facebook page for more details. In the meantime you can stream one of the albums cuts below.
