Sonar & Sonar+D Travel To South America

Music

Sonar will spring up in four of the capitals of South America for two weeks this… winter… that's relative though I suppose. Between 24th November and 7th December it's over in Sau Paulo (24-28th November) before popping up in Buenos Aires (28, 29th November), then Santiago de Chile (5th December) and Bogota (7th December). 90 performances by 15 European and 36 South American artists, including Hot Chip, the Chemical Brothers, Evian Christ, Pional, Modeselektor, Dengue Dengue Dengue!, Bamba Estereo, Alejandro Paz and a whole heap of others.

Meanwhile Sonal+D, the technology and creativity conference brings together the leading figures in the creative and entrepreneurial world with the digital communities to engage in a discourse about innovative modern practises in musical production and distribution, start-up talent, activity among maker communities and innovation in the audiovisual field.

So as well as performances by some hugely esteemed musicians, both global and local to the host cities, the festival features installations (the Atacama observatory rendering sound compositions from the mapping the universe), and workshops and lectures from heads of the arts, science and technology arenas. Music Hack Day sees two days of creating tools for production, distribution and musical interpretation and should be enlightening for any producers who enjoy geeking out about that sort of thing.

So you've got; Sonar Sao Paulo, 24th-28th November, at the Espacio das Americas/Sonar Buenos Aires, 28th & 29th November, Complejo Al Rio/SonarSound Santiago de Chile, 5th December, Hangares de Suricato/Sonar Bogota, 7th December, Corfeirias.
