R.I.P. Mark Bell Of Lfo
Sad news has been coming in across social media – Mark Bell of Sheffield techno pioneers LFO has passed away. As yet details surrounding his death are unknown.
Bell was the founding member of LFO – forever remembered for their 1990 Sheffield bleep classic LFO, a Warp Records release that broke into the top 20, and still sounds incredible to this day. As the 90s progressed, Bell's partner Gez Varley left LFO leaving Bell to continue with the name, creating much loved remixes for Bjork, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, Laurent Garnier, Sabres Of Paradise and Afrika Bambaata.
His noughties electro/ techno cut Freak was a massive hit on electroclash dancefoors, and Bell had spent the last decade playing underground techno around the world. A genuine musical visionary, Mark Bell, RIP.
