Rabanne Partners with Miraval Studios to Revive 1980s Musical Heritage Through Global Remix Challenge

Fashion house Rabanne has announced a collaboration with the renowned Miraval Studios in Provence to remaster and relaunch music from founder Paco Rabanne’s 1980s catalogue, launching with the July 9 re-release of “Listen To The Music” by Judy Carter.

The project marks a return to the brand’s musical roots, harking back to Paco Rabanne’s pioneering work in the 1980s when he integrated fashion, music, and culture through his label Paco Rabanne Design and the Centre 57 venue in Paris. During this period, Rabanne championed Afro, disco, and funk artists, promoting what the brand describes as “diversity, inclusivity, and cultural hybridity.”

The RabanneRemix Challenge

Central to the initiative is the #RabanneRemix challenge, an open call inviting producers, beatmakers, and musicians worldwide to create their own versions of the remastered track. The winner will receive an exclusive residency at Miraval Studios in October 2025, working alongside Grammy and Emmy-winning producer Damien Quintard to co-produce a new track.

“Remastering this track means bringing back a raw, joyful, and strikingly modern energy from the Paco Rabanne Design catalog,” said Quintard, who handled the remastering work at Miraval Studios.

Vincent Thilloy, President of Rabanne, emphasized the brand’s historical connection to music: “Music has always been at the heart of Rabanne’s DNA. As early as 1966, Monsieur Rabanne was a pioneer in integrating music into his runway shows.”

The collaboration represents an intersection of fashion heritage and contemporary music production, utilizing Miraval Studios’ reputation as a destination for high-profile artists including Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, and Justin Bieber since its 2022 reopening under Brad Pitt’s ownership.

The project timeline spans from July’s remaster release through September’s studio residency, culminating in October’s final remix distribution. Whether this musical revival will resonate with contemporary audiences remains to be seen, though it represents a notable effort to bridge the brand’s historical cultural contributions with today’s digital music landscape.
