The first installment of the eagerly anticipated Moderat (the union of Apparat and Modeselektor) ‘II’ album is online now, in the form of new single Bad Kingdom.

Bad Kingdom’s video has been made by regular collaborators Pfadfinderei. Set in and around London in the year 1966, it features a member of the English aristocracy who turns from an ambitious young man into a ruthless power broker.

Moderat will debut their new album and live show at Eastern Electrics festival in Knebworth on August 2nd, with the album released in the UK on August 5th on Monkeytown Records.

On the one side, the thoughtful sound tinkerer and pop poet Apparat (Sascha Ring), and on the other the techno b-boys Modeselektor (Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary) both acts represent the Berlin electronic scene from the other side of the straight bass drum. The refusal to be satisfied with what is available forms the bond of an artistic friendship that has lasted more then a decade that has only come together three times over the past but in decisive phases of their careers. The first time was at the beginning of 2003. The legendary sessions resulted in the Auf Kosten der Gesundheit EP. It’s this extreme contrast that has created the unique Moderat vibe.
