Mayor Of Detroit Makes 23rd-30th May ‘Detroit Techno Week’

In a worthy tribute to the Motor City's influence on the electronic music scene, Detroit mayor Mike Duggan has officially declared the week of May 23 to May 30 as Detroit Techno Week. The week coincides with the city's Movement Festival. Now in its 16th year, Movement boasts a line-up of DJs that played pivotal roles in shaping Techno music. The news was announced in an official certificate, and re-posted by Movement on their Twitter page. The mayor wrote in the certificate of Detroit's increasing popularity as a tourist destination for music lovers. He also emphasised the scene's contributions to the city's economic growth and cultural heritage. 

Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Moritz van Ozwold, Adam Beyer, Nina Kraviz are all to play Movement this year. Find out about the festival here.
