The Piano Day festival founded by Nils Frahm celebrates its third year this year.

The festival takes place on the 88th day of the year, Wednesday 29th, due to the number of keys on the instrument. There'll be 45 events taking place across the globe, with the London leg of the festival being hosted at the iconic Barbican centre.

Six grand pianos from Austrian manufacturer FEURICH-Wien will be set up in the foyer of the Barbican. Pianists will be performing music from; Nils Frahm, Steve Reich, David Lang, and Graham Fitkin, and will also perform a world-premiere piece from the composer Angus MacRae.

Performances will take place at 1pm and 6pm and are completely free to watch.
