Jon Hassell reissues seminal debut album Vernal Equinox

Trumpeter Jon Hassell has announced the reissue of his classic debut album Vernal Equinox.
Originally released in 1977 on Lovely Music, the reissue has been fully remastered from those original tapes and will be available on vinyl for the first time in 42 years and on CD for the first time in 30 years. Hailed as a pioneering album in what would become known as 'fourth world', the compostions merge ambience, global influences, field recordings and electric jazz for a subtle, beautiful and meditative body of work.
Set for release on 20th March – the actual day of the 2020 vernal equinox – the release marks the second on Hassell's own label, Ndeya Records and features sleeve notes from Brian Eno and Hassell himself.
The release of this classic from Hassell’s back catalogue precedes a brand new album set for release this summer.
