De School To Open In Amsterdam In January

The much-missed Trouw closed its doors in December 2014 after an epic 35-hour party. Fortunately, the same team is opening a new venue – the 500 capacity De School – situated in Amsterdam West in the grounds of a disused school. News of the new venue was rumoured earlier this year, before the mayor officially recommended the plans in October.
Now, the opening night for De School has been confirmed as 3rd January 2016. The first two months will play host to sets from the likes of Seth Troxler, Shanti Celeste, Barnt and DJ Sotofett, as well as locals such as Tom Trago, Young Marco and Dekmantel Soundsystem.
Best of all, De School is to have a 24-hour licence, and will be the spark for a wider cultural centre – food, exhibition space, a concert venue – housed in the former school buildings. It all sounds pretty exciting, but best not to get too attached – like Trouw, De School will operate under a temporary licence for no more than five years. Still, if executed properly, De School promises to be a fantastic addition to Amsterdam's club scene.
