Full marks to Crocodiles for taking Groove Is In The Heart and swaddling it in fuzzy 90s slacker riffs and Doors-y keyboards. The hoary old chestnut hasnt sound this good since 1991. I dont know whether the decision to tack the chorus to California Girls on at the end qualifies this as a mash up, itll probably sound better if I call it a medley instead. Theyre teetering on a thin line between cool and too cool here, but, yes, they pull it off. The A Side (does music sold in zeros and ones still have an A Side ?) is more shoe gaze referencing, Creation Records sounding, epic indie pop, balancing the tension between distortion and melody in a fine manner, and whilst it may be a touch derivative, it sounds ace belted out loud in the sun.
