Analog Africa Return To Cape Verde With New Release

Music

Africa-via-Frankfurt label Analog Africa have announced a valuable reissue of Cape Verdean dance music. The new record – which follows on from the mysterious, synth-heavy compilation Cosmic Echo – focuses on accordian maestro Bitori, and his infectious soca-style tracks first released in the 90s.

The musical genre – called Futana – gained popularity in Cape Verde after the country's independence in 1975. Enjoyed for decades in clubs across the islands, this recording is one of the first major landmarks for the musical style.

Grab the record HERE – to be released on September 12th.
