Twirl Recordings boss Alinka has shared her new EP Sunday Morning, a hypnotic take on Berlin’s iconic sound via imprint and multichannel platform, Sound of Berlin.
Marking the second release on the label, which celebrates the vibrations of the city, the EP perfectly showcases Alinka’s signature sound, fusing it with harder-edged electro rhythms and sharp, futuristic synths.
Talking about the release, Alinka says: “I wrote the EP specifically for this project, so it was inspired by my time living in Berlin. It’s a dedication to Berlin’s dance floors and dancers, and the special energy that exists in the city. ’Sunday Morning’ specifically is an ode to Panorama Bar, as it’s my favourite place to play in the world and I’ve had many magical Sundays there.”
Ukrainian-born and raised in Chicago, Alinka cut her teeth as an opening resident for Justin Long's .Dotbleep parties at Smartbar where she honed her skills for almost a decade. A chance meeting with former Hercules and Love Affair Shaun J. Wright led to many musical collaborations as well as the launch of Twirl Recordings in 2014. Now based in Berlin, Alinka has added another imprint to her arsenal, Fantasy Life, which kickstarted with a release from her last year.
Sunday Morning will be released on 29th of January via Sound of Berlin. Follow Alinka.
