R$N Presents: The Noonday Underground Mix With Hollick
General Public & Ransom Note bring you the Noonday Underground.
A term coined to capture the bizarre energy of sunday, day Northern Soul dancers in the late 70's, now a monthly live mix series come sunday social.
We champion acts that bubble away just bellow the surface giving opportunity to the lesser known Dj's as well as giving praise to the more established artists on the underground dance music scene.
Each selector has an hour (ish) slot to record. That mix is then released for your listening pleasure on a weekly basis for the following month on the Ransom Note website.
Next up is Hollick..
First record you bought?
Some Zed Bias house / garage hybrid thing, I should start packing that again…
What record never leaves your bag?
I don't have a particular record really but I always like to pack a little sprinkle of Church, any new bits we have coming up on NBDs or what friends have kindly handed over.
What are you listening to at the moment?
As I write this, i'm listening to that Rebound Lounge EP by DJ Dog (Fett Burger) and Double Dancer, it's killer.
Favourite venue?
Corsica Studios in London
Dream rider?
Some salmon & avo uramaki, coconut water (no bits) and some nice whiskey. Cheesecake too obviously.
A time machine, one record, one place… where and when?
Oooh that's a tough one, i'd have to say when Daft Punk first played 'Da Funk' at that house party in Paris to their pals…imagine hearing that bass line for the first time !
Death row meal?
Pizza
Back to yours, who's coming dead or alive?
Erm…do you know what, i'd probably keep it pretty chill, just a handful of close friends and that…fuck it…throw Prince and Freddie Mercury in there too!
Best fact?
My mum has two cats called Ronnie & Reggie, named after The Kray Twins because they're black & white and always up to no good!
What Influences your music?
My friends and indoor plants 😉
Where can we find you?
Whats next for Hollick?
Got some exciting radio shows coming up. Also, we're back hosting the music for the evening at Brilliant Corners on Friday January 13th with the very dope Turbo Island. I love that place.
RSVP HERE.
When can we expect another release from you guys?
Church is ticking over nicely, we're putting out a very exciting LP on Coastal Haze soon and No Bad Days has a LOT coming out in 2017. I can't wait!
