Mary Yalex: The ‘Monday Is Okay’ Mix

Following an album and numerous other releases on her own Yalex Recordings imprint, Leipzig producer Mary Yalex debuted on KANN earlier this year with the River EP – five top notch tracks of "bleepy ambient listening and free thinking dancefloor material" joining the dots between house, new age and IDM.

Please introduce yourself… who/where/what are you?

My producer name is Mary Yalex. I'm based in Leipzig.

Do you like Mondays?

Yeah, I like Mondays, especially if I have a day off and can have some 'me time'.

How did you find yourself involved with Kann?

I started off buying Kann records because I felt very connected to the music and then I sent them a few demos. I feel at home at Kann, It is a privilege to be able to release my music on such a great label.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

Somewhere in the fields, out enjoying nature.

What should we be wearing?

Vans and blue jeans.

What would be your dream setting to record a mix?

In a house, in a forest, in the mountains of Sweden.

What was your first DJ set up at home and what is it now?

My first set up was an mc 808, electribe sx, clavia north rack 2, Ableton and now I have an octatrack, Korg Poly 61m, Digitone, tr08, korg minilogue and a few other pieces.

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

After I start the the rest flows like a river.

What were the first and last records you bought?

First: Plaid – Not for Threes

Last: Acid Jesus – Flashbacks 1992 – 1998
