Busy setting up for this weekends event the Love Fever took some short time out – shunning our advances on topics more inflammatory – for a quick fire Q&A… fair enough. They also did us a nice lil' valentines mix n' all ahead of their 3rd label release… check the mix at the bottom them there.
When was the last time you had your head in a bass bin:
Been keeping it pretty chilled this year & saving it for the Valentine's Party with Hunee this Friday.
What are you obsessed with at the moment?
Andy: setting up an analogue studio, heart throb studios, that we've been collecting bits and bobs for over the last few years and is now ready to go.
Alex: getting the best music in for the label, very exciting year ahead with San Soda, Trus'me, Kim Ann Foxman, Ron Jason, Dream 2 Science, Citizen, Baby Ford and a few unmentionables all coming a long for the love fever ride…..
What's your answer to everything?
Andy: Ask Sheff
Alex: Sheff is our new secret weapon and is basically the person we should be. The embodiment of making party party.
Who's more techno and why; your Mum or your Dad?
Andy: my dad – northern, likes black men from detroit.
Alex: Dad plays flute in rock and jazz bands, he's way above techno.
How many DJs does it take to change a light bulb?
We've smashed three neon hearts and lost maybe 4 smoke machines, someone else's video projector and possible 50 clip lights so probably best not asking us.
Five ingredients for the perfect party?
Interesting space, smoke, a little bit of sweat, a touch of glamour, skin.
What item of clothing in your wardrobe are you most ashamed of?
Andy: Nothing really, but Alex is famed for his white jeans & I've just bought a silk, striped, ladies dressing gown for after parties.
Alex: I am happy to say I boast a wardrobe full of the finest Savile Row tailoring after years of running a bespoke house. Yet am sad to say I no longer own white jeans.
It's peak time at a party, you are lost in the music, you shut your eyes; what do you see?
Andy: concentric black and white patterns, spiralling out from the centre and gently rotating nowhere near in time to the music.
Alex: Oooo I do that lots while I dj. anyone who does that is just pretending. Theo even makes it look like he is going into a fit when he does it. hats off.
DJ or musician you'd most like to party with?
The Who in their heyday.
What’s the best thing you've done so far this year
Andy: It was very nearly steal a 6ft palm tree whilst drunk in a sombrero, but that flopped whilst half into the cab. Bought a cocktail bar, I guess.
Alex: Stole a nutrageous from tesco.
What’s been your worst job?
Andy – cleaning up after a 2000 person rave a couple of NYEs ago when I'd forgot to order red stripe cans, rather than glass bottles.
Alex – Too lazy to do a shit job.
Where is the strangest place you've woken up naked?
Always wear silk pajamas.
If you were a cat, what type would you be?
gay snow leopards, in fedora hats.
What would be your ransom note?
take my records. leave the books.
First and last record bought?
Andy – glenn huddle & chris waddle – diamond lights / Ron Trent – A Dark Room And A Feeling
Alex – Peter Paul & Mary – Puff the Magic Dragon which I'd happily listen to right now…. most recently Don Pablos Animals – Paranoia is on the mix.
What’s the best piece of music you’ve ever heard?
Everything comes from Miles
What’s your favourite place on earth?
Playing records at Love Fever when its just right.
