Lord Of The Isles – The Ransom Note Mix

Music

We've got an absolute corker of a mix for you this fine day, thanks to the effortlessly talented Lord Of The Isles. Our great lord has provided us with an hour of aural goodness to help the minutes just fly by as he entertains our ears with such high quality sounds that will make your ears feel like they've been treated to the finest banquet. His class shines through on this mix which he's specifically curated for us ahead of his appearance for Nibiru in London on Friday 9th October.

So give your ears over to the almighty lord and read on as we talk lords, isles and other things that aren't parts of his name;

Where did the name Lord Of The Isles come from? Did you have a dream about being king of a series of small islands?

It was the ancestral group that eventually became the McDonald clan. No, not really, megalomania is not my thing.

Describe your sound without using the letter 'e'.

Good vibrations

Which is your favourite: Ireland, Iceland or the Isle Of Man? Why?

Iceland – Volcanoes, The Northern Lights and Bjork. They also convicted their bankers for market manipulation. Easy.

Who do you think are the highest lords and ladies of music?

This question has been doing my head in for a couple of days now and I honestly can’t answer with only two names.

At what point in history do you think Britain was at its peak?

1438.

What was the first electronic record you ever heard? How did it make you feel?

Not really sure what record. I think the first time became aware of electronic music was from the TV. Tomorrows World. The theme by Richard Denton & Matin Cook. I loved it and the programme.

If you were trapped on a desert island with one other person, who would you choose? How long before you consider eating them?

I’d have to take my wife and kids.  We can all get a bit hangry from time to time so we might not last long.

What can we look forward to hearing on your next release? How will it differ to everything you've done before?

4 EP for Permanent Vacation ‘Clearness Of Love’ – main difference is there’s no beatless tracks on this EP

What was the music of your teenage rebellion?

Acid House.

Are you a kick drum, hi hat or a snare? And why?

Has to be the kick. I like the doofs.

Who would you say has been the most influential artist of the twentieth century? And the 21st?

Maybe Andy Warhol.

If you were a cat, what type would you be?

Scottish Wildcat

What would be your ransom note?

How are you preparing yourself for the Nibiru appearance? Do you have any set routines that you go through in the build-up to the performance?

No not really, unless I’m playing live. I find too much preparation can be counter productive. I like to just turn up with my records and get on with it. I’m doing an in store at Kristina Records before the gig, so that should be a nice warm up.

What sort of things will we be hearing from you at the party?

Things like this promo mix.

What are your thoughts on the following lords;

Lord of the Flies

Savage

Lord of the Dance

No

Lord of the Rings

Yes

Lord Lucan

Suave

Lords Cricket Ground

Pardon?

The House of Lords

Nonsense

Lord of the Isles

Family

What can we expect to hear from you in the next few months?

New 4 track EP for Permanent Vacation and a new track coming on a Nautilus Rising called XIT. There's also a remix for Deep Space Orchestra. My album will be finished soon along with two other EP projects I’m very excited about.

Anything you'd like to add?

Thanks for having me.
