Krysko – the ransom note Mix

Music

Warehouse Project resident advisor  Krysko kicks off our Electric Elephant mix series 2012 with a mix of deep, dubby, technotic northern house vibes.
Anyone who includes Underground Resistance's High Tech Jazz as a closer is alright in our book!

"There is two kinds of music, the good and bad. I play the good kind" ~ Louis Armstrong.

There isn’t much more to say that than when it comes down to the esoteric art of being a truly good DJ.

Krysko explains simply; “in this world of over saturated digital bombardment of over analysed genres, imaginary sub-genres and sub-sub-NU-genres, all it boils down to is good fucking music, and if you’re a real music lover, you know what is and what isn’t. 96.657% of the western world can beat match. Fact. It’s really about an understanding of the music you play and the history of it. If you immerse yourself in that, you’re halfway there, and it’ll shine through when you play to people…”

A bit German, part Ukrainian, an adopted Mancunian but all Yorkshireman… Krysko has over the last 11 years, held three of the country’s most respected and revered residencies within the UK’s ‘underground’. The Redlight at Sankeys Soap, Tribal Gathering and now the musical juggernaut that is The Warehouse Project, where he is the original and longest standing resident.

Having shared the stage with a plethora of dance music’s most influential individuals including Derrick Carter, Andrew Weatherall, “Mad” Mike Banks, Francois Kevorian, Frankie Knuckles, Ralph Lawson and Chic’s Nile Rodgers. These aren’t a random selection, just minute list he has performed alongside and of whom he cites these as his musical heroes. This being a testament to his achievements and respect he has gained through his career.

Over the last decade Krysko has played most respected nights & festivals throughout the UK, from The Arches , Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics, Electric Chair to closing Glastonbury Radio 1 stage, Parklife, Bestival, V Festival, Beatherder to name but a few… and with international dates around the US and Europe… the youngest person to play 2 Live Radio 1 Essential Mixes from 2000 – 2010, released records with Paul Woolford on Chicago’s Peaches label and (albeit sparse) production work steadily through the decade… we could go on, but we won’t as there’s plenty more to come. Enough said.

“How would you describe your style?…” Says the interview question. Shit the bed, how do you answer that?
