Dualismo Sound: The Wednesday Alternative Mix

Music

The reissue game is stronger than ever. It's competitive, fierce and yet incredibly rewarding if executed correctly. A number of record labels have rose to prominence as a result of re-releasing forgotten gems, limited pressings and rare gold for which some had exclusively paid a fortune for previously.

Dualismo Sound Records is a label based out of Italy and is run by Andrea Dallera aka G Spara. The imprint focuses on reissuing Italian dance music across all genres and has a penchant for funk, soul, disco and italo. Last year marked the first release on the record label, a rare EP which featured two tracks from Paolo Zavallone & His Orchestra recorded during the 1970's. It was a strong and certain statement by a label which seems to be moving very much in the right direction.

We invited the label founder Andrea to deliver us a mix, and the result does not disappoint. An all Italian mix which features only the finest funk, soul, disco and beyond.

Listen and read the interview below:

Where was the mix recorded?

In my label's office aka my bedroom.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

While dancing with Edwige Fenech.

What should we be wearing?

The freakiest outfit (check the Madfilth lp back cover).

What would be your dream setting to record a mix: Location/system/format?

A rooftop in the city centre of Sao Paulo with two Technics and an Outline Pro 405.

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?

Probably the Armed Gang joint produced by the mighty Sangy.

What’s your favourite recorded mix of all time?

Don't have a favourite one but recently I'm really into some Neapolitan disco mixes by Nunca Mas Juan.

If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?

A b2b at the legendary Typhoon Club with Beppe Loda would be dope! No need to explain why… đŸ˜‰

What was your first DJ set up at home and what is it now?

Two Technics, dusty vinyls and a mixer. It has never changed.

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

I think the first 3 joints.

What were the first and last records you bought?

The first record I bought was some Italian Hip-Hop shit and the last one was "On" by Altin Gun, that I still have to receive.

If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?

Fried calamari.

If it was an animal what would it be?

My old and fat pug, Bartolomeo.

One record in your collection that is impossible to mix into anything?

Maybe some Japanese ambient stuff.

Upcoming in the world of…

In February I've dropped a 7inch with two gorgeous cosmic disco joints by the Milanese Maestro Enrico Intra (the last two tracks of the mix) and I'm actually working on the third release of my label, Dualismo Sound Records. It will be a reissue of two rare and weird Italian space rock tracks, hopefully dropping in June.
