Dj Scm: The ‘Shine A Light On’ Mix

Music

From the murky depths of Berlin comes a new beam of light complete with an emotional party orientated edge. DJ SCM first appeared on our radar back in 2015, since then he has formed his own record label under the name of Warm Tapes Adjustment which has released music from the likes of Gari Romalis and Jordan Fields. His music is playful, much like his persona and the labels visual aesthetic. When it comes to selection in the clubs his tastes are versatile and far reaching, this is certainly made clear through the diverse array of music present in this mix. There is a lot to be said about those who simply do it for the love, get on board. Listen and read the interview below:

You’re pretty new on our radar, fancy telling us a little bit about yourself?

I'm 28 years old, dj/ producer, vinyl collector and owner of Warm Tapes Adjustment

Who are you and where are you from?

I'm DJ SCM and I come from Italy

What does SCM stand for?

It's just an acronym…

How would you describe the music which you make?

The music I make is something like a compression of all the sounds, styles, genres, ideas in which I strongly believe during the period of production.

What’s the most emotional party you’ve ever attended?

There are a lot of party I still remember such as “Really Emotional” but I think I always have something to learn from who have been doing this job for much more  time than me, that's why the best party I attended was at Prince Charles in Berlin with Specter, M. Pittman and R.Wilhite b2b. I've seen member of family, friends and guests dancing all together like never, and this gave me some special feelings about people and music that keep bangin into myself. Actually i felt the same last year in November at Paloma with Dj Fett Burger, Jayda G and Double Dancer…

What’s good in Berlin right now?

So much record store.

What’s bad in Berlin right now?

Never enough record Store.

Where was the mix recorded?

It was recorded at WATAJ studio.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

Just plug your headphone or connect it to the speakers.

What should we be wearing?

A fresh floral shirt.

What would be your dream setting to record a mix?

In front of the sea with just two turntables and a mixer.

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?

The third..

What’s your favourite recorded mix of all time?

This one for you guys!

If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?

Of course with my cousine Riccardo Schiro.. because we started together since we were teenagers and when we go back to back we understand each other  perfectly

What was your first DJ set up at home and what is it now?

The real first set up was and italian two channel “toy” mixer bought for 50.000 Lire and a Turntable from the same brand I still have in Italy… I was thirteen and my Mother bought me just one turntable cause it costed too much have two..  Actually I plugged just the radio to the second channel!!

Now just a mixer and two turntables in my studio dip in a mess of records.

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

I strongly think both!!

What were the first and last records you bought?

Can' t remember the first record, the last is “Inhouse EP” from Free Arts Band.

If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?

A watermelon.

One record in your collection that is impossible to mix into anything…

I think there is no records impossible to mix

Upcoming in the world of…

I'm working on new material I'm gonna lunch with a sister label in 2017 “WATAJ Records” and some more 12” inches somewhere else

Anything else we need to discuss.

Party, love and music all night long.
