Cold Courage – The Tuesday Is Ok Mix

Music

When we started the 'Monday Is OK' mix series we forgot to factor in that some Mondays are Bank Holidays, which means that they're even more than OK! Our team of boffins spent the long weekend pondering a solution to this crisis. The result?

Welcome to the first ever 'Tuesday Is OK' mix!

New kid on the block Cold Courage is behind this debut outing under the new moniker. His self-released EP Her is soon to be sent out into the ether so we asked him to provide us with an hour of aural sustenance and answer us a few questions so that we could learn what makes him tick;

Where are you?

London, in Greenwich.

What are you?

Obsessive Producer.

Tell us about the Monday Tuesday mixtape you’ve put together for us?

It's a collection of tracks which represent each one of my influences. And a couple of my own tracks.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

In a Hammock.

What should we be wearing?

As little as possible or a Japanese Kimono.

Where was it recorded?

In my mouldy studio.

Who got you hooked on electronic music?

Jon Hopkins.

Some self help questions for a Monday:

Am I excited to dive into the challenges that i have lined up for the week?

Madly excited, need to finish off my second EP this week.

Am I going to my dream job?

Job isn't the right word, but it makes me very happy.

Do I feel energised, rested, and confident?

All of the above.

You just had a fight with the person you are closest to. Do you not speak to them until they apologise…or do you apologise first?

Confrontation isn't my strongest skill. I am a good hugger though. If that answers the question.

If you were trapped on a desert island with one other person, who would you choose? How long would it be before you eat them?

J.J Cale and Jon Hopkins. I would let them choose who would be eaten first.

Your doctor says you need more exercise… what do you take up for exercise?

More Japanese contemporary dance.

What was the first electronic record you heard and how did it make you feel?

I genuinely can't remember the first. But when I heard Brain Eno's records that was a big thing for me.

How does your brain work when making music?

Excitement meets enormous amounts of stress.

How does it work when you aren’t?

Exactly the same.

What were the first and last records you bought?

Zero 7 – Simple Things. And the last was Clark's new album. (I know I'm late with that…)

What's your answer to everything?

Chocolate and music, not together. Sometimes Special Brew.

Anything else we need to discuss?

How great these questions are and how boring my answers were!?
