Clicklounge: The ‘Wednesday Alternative’ Mix

Music

From his home of Vilnius in Lithuania, Paulius Austrevičius operates under the moniker Clicklounge. As booking assistant at one of the capital's best venues, Opium Club, he has a hand in bringing some of the most exciting and interesting DJs and artists over to play in the space. It's here that he also holds a residency and runs his own club night, Juoduomenė, alongside friends Tadas Quazar and Tumosa, that has seen them invite the likes of Tolouse Low Trax, Interstellar Funk, Elena Colombi and Zozo over to play with them.

For this week's alternative mix we handed over the reigns to Paulius to see us through hump day and he didn't disappoint… Lock in for an hour of hypnotic drum workouts, leftfield oddities and sludgy acid cuts.

Please introduce yourself… Who are you, where are you and what are you?

My name is Paulius Austrevičius. Some adventurous dancers might identify me under the moniker of clicklounge. Since four years I am working as a booking assistant at Opium Club in Vilnius. Likewise I am a resident DJ there & run a club night named “Juoduomenė” with two gentle guys Tadas Quazar & Tumosa.

Where was the mix recorded?

This mix was recorded at my home ground aka Opium Club.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

My proposal would be on the way back home after a momentous club night, still budging from it. Or on the way to the party while taking any U-Bahn direction. You choose.

What should we be wearing?

A denim jacket in black.

What would be your dream setting to record a mix: Location/system/format?

Any corner of the wild and hospitable nature. Two turntables, any rotary mixer and some external pedal effects.

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?

Craven Faults – Ings

What’s your favourite recorded mix of all time?

Young Marco RA.571 / 2017

If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?

Maggi Lego. A former Gus Gus band member and a true legend.

What was your first DJ set up at home and what is it now?

Gemini XL500ii turntables, no name mixer and some ‘Radiotechnika’ speakers

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

At the tail-end, all is forgotten. But I choose the track I end on.

What were the first and last records you bought?

First: Cabaret Voltaire – Crackdown / Just Fascination

Last: Ami Shavit – Yom Kippur 1973 on Sub Rosa.

If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?

A bowl of kimchi

If it was an animal what would it be?

Saltwater crocodile

One record in your collection that is impossible to mix into anything?

There’s no such record, even in the whole universe

Upcoming in the world of Clicklounge…

Playing a couple of gigs in Düsseldorf & Cologne at the end of September. Just started the 10th Opium Club season, having first JUODUOMENĖ club night on October 4th with Gesloten Cirkel on board. Playing at The Waiting Room in October 12th with my boys and Lions Drums on the bill. And definitely something something in between all this.

Anything else we need to discuss?

Make love.
