Once 'HMV's premier singles buyer' back when one of us here was learning them ropes, Andy Pye went on to become a passionate and obsessive music collector, DJ, radio host and now also a label owner. The proud aficionado of all things Balearic, we thought it very fitting that he create a Monday mix for us, and he did not let us down. Who are you, where are you and what are you?

I’m Andy, I'm 44 tomorrow, and I have a serious record addiction. I run Balearic Social Radio and we do a monthly night on the first Saturday at Outlaw's Yacht Club in Leeds with my co-pilot Steph.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

In the sun, on a raft in the sea.

What should we be wearing?

A smile.

What were the first and last records you bought?

First one was Dennis Waterman's 'I Could Be So Good For You', and the last was George Benson's 'White Rabbit'.

What would be your dream setting to record a mix?

Out in the summer sunshine with Bobby Beige, Moonboots & Phil Mison.

If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?

Like a cocktail I guess. The more you taste, the more you like. It’s a slow burner.

If it were an animal what would it be?

A cat on a summers day.

I would apologise, I'm not one for tension.

My Dad, not sure I’d eat him but we are very close. He doesn’t mind my music taste, so we should be ok.

Your doctor says you need more exercise….what do you take up for exercise?

I only stop playing Sunday football two years ago, but have just started again as a social thing with work so would always be football.
