Alfredo: The Ransom Note Mix

Born in Argentina, Alfredo was raised with the sunshine in his bones. At the age of 23 he moved to Spain and later found himself at home on the island of Ibiza. A legend was born. Having been described as the man who influenced the likes of DJ Harvey, Paul Oakenfold and Danny Rampling his reputation is notorious. During the 1980's he was the artistic mastermind behind the much loved Amnesia club and helped to formulate the path forwards for the white isle. To this day he remains focused on delivering music in a way which only he knows how. This is dance music with a sun kissed twist, acid with a balearic sensibility, only the real survive. Please introduce yourself… Who are you, where are you?

I`m Alfredo Fiorito AKA DJ Alfredo, and I`m in and live in Ibiza.

How would you describe the influence of Ibiza on present dance music?

Fundamental, it is at the global centre stage of Dance Music.

How would you describe the change in Ibiza over the years?

Everything changes in Ibiza, and I would say that that changes affect every aspect of the Ibizan live. More people, constructions, clubs, cars, private everything. In one world: awesome!

Where was the mix recorded?

The mix was recorded at Global Radio Station in Ibiza.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

Your car, your house , in a dance floor , not to sleep!

What should we be wearing?

Comfortable clothing!

What would be your dream setting to record a mix: Location, system, format?

In a studio in front of the sea, in Ibiza of course, with  2 Technics 1200s, 2 Pioneer 2000s, a last generation Pioneer mixer, the best monitors available and wav Format.

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?

Tulio De Piscopo: Primavera ( Stop Bajon).

What’s your favourite recorded mix of all time?

The ones I used to do live at Amnesia in the 80s. There are lots of them!!!

 If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?

With Ricky Lyte, Ricardo Da Force, because of his incredible knowledge of house music, his natural happiness and his creativity. Love to Ricky, rest in peace my good friend!!

What was your first DJ set up at home and what is it now?

2 turntables, an amplifier and a mixer and 2 little speakers. Now I work in a studio, only Hi Fi at home!!!

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

Professionally speaking, the track I start on……………emotionally the track I end on. Both are important for me!

 What were the first and last records you bought?

The first record I bought, The Beatles, 45 inches of Please, Please, Please.

If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?

Sweet and sour,

If it was an animal what would it be?

A penguin, I love penguins!!!!

One record in your collection that is impossible to mix into anything?

In reality, you  can mix whatever you want..
