Politics of Cultural Disruption
Sky Arts Artichoke Salon Series at Tate
Monday 21 June 2010,
18.4520.00,
Is public art any more than second-rate sculptors and failed performers cluttering the streets and disrupting traffic? Artichoke, producers of unforgettable live events like Antony Gormley’s One & Other, are collaborating with Sky Arts and Tate to mount the first of three public conversations exploring the politics of the public domain.
Curator and writer Tim Marlow chairs a panel of provocative speakers including the new director of the Cultural Olympiad, Ruth Mackenzie; cultural commentator and curator Gus Casely-Hayford; Director of Public Space for CABE, Sarah Gaventa; and the former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Ian Blair.
