Comedy Slice Reviews CLaudiaO’Doherty

Art & Culture

Sometimes we need hold dear the element of surprise. Not knowing anything about a show can be the most delightful way to enjoy it. Claudia O’Doherty’s latest show Pioneer I think falls into this category and so it with some reluctance that I write this review as it will spoil the voyeuristic experience you could have had if innocent to the show’s details.  But as you are still reading this then I better plug on.

The premise of the show is that Claudia is hope to be sky rocketed to stardom as she showcases her various “talents”.  As we are taken on a whirlwind demonstration of her skills with the addition of holograms and a head microphone a la Britney Spears, snippets of Claudia’s life come to light and the neurotic desperate entertainer thin facade is completely diminished.

It is darkly funny and then there is that uncomfortable feeling that this is merely an exaggeration of your performances at interviews…be prepared to be sucked into O’Doherty’s world and come out of the show feeling like you’ve been spat out from the vortex of her mind.
