Rfid And Jake Williams Launch Fragments Av

Art & Culture

Set to premier at this year's EM15 festival is a fantastic immersive audio/visual project between RFID’s Ben Gannaway and Will Young  and electronic musician Jake Williams that seeks to explore the transitive nature of human memory calling on emotionally charged near death experiences of its subjects.

Titled 'Fragments' the piece itself is built around a series of audio interviews with subjects who have been asked to recall significant past experiences. Taking from their participants stories Gannaway, Young and Williams then looked to film some of the environments and settings of these memories using that as the bedding for the visual aspect of the project. Their work is created synergetically throughout the use of interlinked processes, performance parameters of the visuals are tied to sonic processes and vice versa, often in feedback loops and their work grows out of this interaction creating a truly  audio visual performance.

Ben Gannaway and Will young are the pair behind RFID the 3D visual and sound dome that found home at Bloc and also at last year’s Arc festival in Bristol and holds a reputation for utilising impressive technologies and creating involving experiences which feeds into Fragments where they’re set to utilise even more groundbreaking tech for this project
