Human: A Hundred Years Gallery Event For Autumn

Art & Culture

Humans. What are humans? Are we human? Or are we dancers? A pertinent question once asked by Brandon Flowers, that rings true eternally.

We can never truly answer that question, but what we can do is study humanity through a series of paintings at a group exhibition called 'Human' featuring work by Chris Pilling, David Shackleton, Franzi Ehmer, Peter Rapp, Tommy Pilling, Tony Savas and Zoey Zhao, at the Whitechapel Gallery in September.

"Bringing together new work by seven artists from around the globe, the show looks at themes including life, death, sexuality and humour. Importantly, it also explores the inner psychological complexity that lies within all of us, and the ways it is manifested in the world around us."

Through various mediums both traditional and contemporary they will be revisiting the subject that has fascinated artists since we first started scrawling stickmen on cave walls (our childhoods were unconventional at Ransom Note) – ourselves!!

Opening Thursday 3rd August at Hundred Years Gallery as part of Whitechapel Gallery's First Thursday open till late, and running on till 10th, more info here.
