Cork Film Festival Celebrates Diamond Anniversary
The Cork Film Festival is celebrating its anniversary of a pretty impressive sixty years. Situated next to Ireland's South West coast, it offers something for everybody across a ten day event in November. This year it boasts four new festival venues, an appearance by British actor Simon Callow, a commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Rory Gallagher's passing, a screening of Oscar-hopeful short movie by Irish actor Hugh O'Conor and, on top of all that, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra will be performing live.
Staying true to supporting local talent, the festival – which is principally funded by the Arts Council Ireland – will also screen 50 Irish short films, almost half of which were made in Cork itself. There's also plenty for the little ones (or you big kids out there) including a sing along version of Frozen and a screening of the Disney classic The Lion King.
Here's a taste of what you can expect to see;
The festival will run between 6th – 15th November and the full festival programme and tickets can be found on their website.
