Commuters Will Be Offered Tfl Artworks On The Tube Today

Art & Culture

As part of Sadiq Khan's 'London is Open' art campaign, free posters, postcards and other artworks will be handed out to commuters at tube stations across the city today.

The pieces have been commissioned for the series titled 'Art for Everyone', and are on display all over the underground. The campaign feature work of artists such as Jeremy Deller, Mark Titchner, David Shrigley, Sol Calero and Alexandre da Cunha. The work of these 5 will be featured on all of the postcards available today.

Posters, postcards, bags and badges will be dished out to passengers at stations around the city, including Tottenham Court Road, Vauxhall, Kings Cross, Shepherds Bush and Stratford

Talking about his piece, pictured below, Jeremy Deller says: "My artwork contribution ‘London & on & on’ is a hopefully funny play on an advert for washing machines in the 1990’s. It riffs on the advert’s catch phrase “Ariston and on and”. It feels like it’s appropriate to the theme that London Is Open – that London has its own momentum. It has been going for 2000 years after all.”
